A tractor assembly 100 for possible use in moving a coiled tubing downhole includes two tractor units 125, 150 each having uphole and downhole sondes 130, 140, 160, 170. The sondes are driven into engagement with the bore wall by use of a hydraulically driven piston (115, fig 1). Both tractor units 125, 150 may be driven independently. Also claimed is a method of distributing load accommodated by a tandem tractor assembly, the method comprising hydraulically powering the uphole and downhole tractor units to obtain load capacities thereof and hydraulically balancing the load capacities to one another. |
