Provided is a low-cost liquid crystal display device which has a view angle limited only in a specified direction and high image qualities. The liquid crystal display device having a plurality of pixels arranged in matrix is provided with a first substrate (60), a second substrate (62), a liquid crystal layer (64) arranged between the first substrate and the second substrate, and a plurality of microlenses (52a) which are formed, corresponding to the pixels, on a surface on the side opposite to the liquid crystal layer of the first substrate and respectively have curved surfaces (52b) for collecting incoming light. The liquid crystal display device satisfies relationship of d>p·((2n)2-1)1/2, where, d is a thickness of the first substrate, p is an arrangement pitch of the pixels, and n is a refraction index of a main material of the first substrate.
