<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IP telephone terminal which can utilize a file transmitting/receiving function in an IP telephone system and effectively use the resource of the IP telephone system for communication other than voice communication, and to provide a program which can be read by a computer controlling the IP telephone terminal. Ž<P>SOLUTION: On receiving a read file, a recipient PC acquires device setting information and transmits a response file including the device setting information to a source of transmission of the read file. Then, when a write/read file including the setting information which has been updated is received from the source of transmission of the read file, the device setting information can be updated based on the received updated setting information. Thus, even if the user of the device is not familiar with various setting of devices and setting changes, rewriting can be made by a file transmitted from a call center, which makes it possible to prevent troubles such as failure in performing various functions of the device, thereby improving user-friendliness.
