<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device or the like capable of precisely recognizing a situation around a vehicle by reliably eliminating the influence of reflection onto an imaging device mounted in the vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: In the vehicle drive assist device 10, in a histogram showing a frequency distribution of luminances of an image obtained through a camera 12, a luminance L<SB>i</SB>when a cumulative value ΣN (L<SB>j</SB>) of a frequency N (L<SB>i</SB>) from the low end of luminances reaches a threshold value N<SB>th</SB>is set as a designated luminance L<SB>C</SB>. The designated luminance L<SB>C</SB>indicates the rate of rise in the luminance of the image due to reflection, such that the luminance of the image is increased as a whole because of reflection to the camera 12, etc. Thus, the luminance of the image is corrected based on the designated luminance L<SB>C</SB>, whereby a corrected image from which the influence of the reflection is eliminated can be obtained and the situation of the forward direction of a vehicle 1 can be accurately recognized based on the corrected image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
