SOLUTION: The catalyst for addition polymerization is obtained by bringing a transition metal compound (A) of a group III to XI or lanthanoid series in the periodic table of elements into contact with modified particles (B'). The modified particle (B') is obtained by bringing a compound (f) represented by formula M2L2ninto contact with modified particles (B) which is obtained by bringing a compound (a) represented by a formula M1L1m, a compound (b) represented by a formula R1t-1TH, a compound (c) represented by a formula R2t-2TH2and particles (d) composed of a substance different from any of the compounds (a), (b) and (c) into contact with each other.
