PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display traffic congestion information, when a map image for which traffic congestion information has not been prepared is displayed. SOLUTION: This navigation device 10 is mounted on a vehicle. A communication section 26 conducts communication with a radio device installed outside the vehicle. A map image acquisition section 42 acquires a map image via the communication section 26. A video acquiring section 46 acquires an image imaged by an imaging device, installed outside the vehicle via the communication section 26. A video analysis section 48 detects the occurrence of traffic congestion from the acquired image. When the occurrence of traffic congestion is detected, a composite section 50 makes the occurrence part of the traffic congestion on the map image overlay and displays it on a display 38.
