PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new phenyl-substituted 4-ketolactams and 4-ketolactones, usable as pesticides, microbicides and herbicides. SOLUTION: Compounds of formula (I) are provided, wherein -A-B- represents a group of (c)-CH(R<SP>2</SP>)-O-; W represents a halogen or an alkyl; X represents H, a halogen or an alkyl; Y represents H, a halogen or an alkyl; Z represents H, a halogen or an alkyl; at least one of the groups W, X and Y represents an alkyl and at least one of the groups W, X and Y represents a halogen; G represents a halogen or nitro; R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>represent each independently H or a 1-4C alkyl; and Q represents NH, O or S.
