OPTICAL SHEET AND DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical sheet capable of enhancing contrast and of ensuring a large viewing angle.

SOLUTION: An optical sheet 30 transmits image light to the viewer side. The optical sheet includes an optical function layer 40 having a plurality of light transmission parts 42 and light absorption parts 44 alternately arrayed along a sheet surface of the optical sheet. The optical sheet satisfies 0.1<10-(D×Z/(P×cos(arcsin(√2/(2×n)))))wherein: X is an average width of the light absorption parts along the sheet surface of the optical sheet; Z is a length of the light absorption parts along a normal of the sheet surface of the optical sheet; P is an array pitch of the light absorption parts along the sheet surface of the optical sheet; D is an OD value when the transmission is executed for a length corresponding to the average width X of the light absorption parts in the light absorption parts; and n is a refractive index of the light transmission parts.
