PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce sedimentation of dispersed particles in pigment ink in an ink cartridge without adding or improving hardware, in an off-carriage type inkjet printer. SOLUTION: In the inkjet printer 1 using a pressure-type ink cartridge, the ink cartridge 5 in which the pigment ink to be supplied to a print head 3 is stored is installed in a position separated from the carriage 7 where the print head 3 is loaded, and by pressurizing an ink storage chamber 11 storing the pigment ink in the ink cartridge 5, the ink is supplied to the print head 3. The inkjet printer 1 includes: a pressurizing peripheral system for pressurizing/depressurizing the ink storage chamber 11; and a printer controller 31 that controls the pressurizing peripheral system 25 to adjust the pressure. When deciding that pressurizing/depressurizing processing is repeated by the prescribed number of times, the printer controller 31 performs control so that the ink storage chamber 11 is turned into a standby pressurized state necessary for executing the printing processing.
