<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which can solve the problem that a printing shrunk in the direction of sheet conveyance in the printing at a low temperature is performed while being able to obtain a good printing result even below the operational warranty temperature without spending a long time for printing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A temperature of atmosphere is detected by a temperature sensor (S1), and it is determined whether the detected temperature is not more than a predetermined value (S2). If the detected temperature is determined to be not more than the predetermined value (S2: NO), the kind of a print tape is detected (S3). From the temperature and the information on the kind of tape which have been detected, a magnifying power for applying an enlargement processing to printing data to be printed is established (S4). Next, the printing data of the information to be printed which has been input is expanded (Step 5). Furthermore, the printing data is enlarged in the sub scan direction by the established magnifying power and processed into the enlarged printing data (S6).
