<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a music data receiver, transmitting and receiving music data having good quality as much as possible while effectively using a communication band, music data distributor and program for achieving the respective control methods for controlling the music data receiver and the music data distributor, respectively. <P>SOLUTION: When a user specifies some parts not desired for distribution among the parts of a selected piece of music, a change request indicating non-distribution of the specified parts is transmitted from the music data receiver to the music data distributor (S103). On receiving the change request, the music data distributor determines distribution/non-distribution about the respective parts of the music data retrieved in step S201 (S203), and decides the quality of the respective parts distributed so that the total data size of parts to be distributed is within a predetermined range (S204).
