<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reproduction device and a reproduction method in which pressing an operation disk by an operator can be detected highly accurately by detecting variation of electrostatic capacity. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A reproduction device 10 includes a rotatable operation disk part 54 for inputting related to reading of data stored in a RAM 20, an electrostatic capacity sensor part 28 for outputting a sensor value indicating variation of electrostatic capacity in accordance with press of the operation disk part 54, a storage part 13 storing a reference value corresponding to a sensor value in a not depressed state of the press disk part 54, and a control part 12 discriminating existence of press of the operation disk part 54 based on vector quantity being a relative value obtained from difference between a sensor value from the electrostatic capacity sensor part 28 and a reference value stored in the storage part 13.
