The device has a catalyst (2) to which gases discharged from a generator is supplied. Parts heated with help of heating energy to an operating temperature are in direct contact with solid reducing agent. The generator has parts which come in contact with the gas. A line (35) guiding the gas to the catalyst is tempered and/or heated. The generator has a container (1) i.e. pressure container, with two chambers, where one of the chambers serves as a storage chamber for accommodating the agent and a heater i.e. heating plate. Other chamber accommodates the gas formed from the agent.
