<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power consumption of a back light source in the display areas of the images of contents that are low in the degree of user's attention, while ensuring the high image quality of the image of a content drawing a high degree of user's attention, with the images of the plurality of contents being displayed parallel to one another on a liquid crystal display panel. <P>SOLUTION: Based on, for example, the results of the detection of the direction of a person's face, the liquid crystal display device selects a content drawing the attention of the person, from a plurality of contents in which images are displayed parallel to one another by a liquid crystal display panel 15.
