<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide newα-LiFeO<SB>2</SB>having an increased rate of CO<SB>2</SB>absorption in the whole temperature range and having an increased rate of CO<SB>2</SB>absorption even in a relatively low temperature range of≤450°C, to provide a method for producing theα-LiFeO<SB>2</SB>, and to provide a method for absorbing carbon dioxide, a carbon dioxide absorber and a carbon dioxide separation unit using theα-LiFeO<SB>2</SB>as a carbon dioxide absorbent. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing rock salt type lithium ferrite comprises heating a mixture of columnar crystallineα-Fe<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>and LiNO<SB>3</SB>at a temperature at which LiNO<SB>3</SB>melts to obtain rock salt type lithium ferrite, wherein the mixture contains LiNO<SB>3</SB>in an excess of 5-15% overα-Fe<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>with respect to stoichiometric ratio. The rock salt type lithium ferrite has a lattice constant of 4.158Å. There are also provided the method for absorbing carbon dioxide, the carbon dioxide absorber and the carbon dioxide separation unit using the rock salt type lithium ferrite as a carbon dioxide absorbent material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
