<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and image processing method for detecting defects in image data, caused by dust deposited on the lens of a CCD camera or flaw on the lens, or the like, and correcting the image defects detected. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes: an image acquisition means for acquiring a plurality of pieces of image data for each output job; a size changing means for enlarging or reducing the image data in such a way that image sizes of all the pieces of captured image data in the job become equal to one another; a detection means for comparing image featured values of pixels and detecting a pixel region, where the image featured values are matched, as a defective portion; a display means for enlarging and displaying the defective portion; and a correction means for correcting the defective portion.
