The rest has a chin rest plate (10) provided with a chin support cavity, and two bars (12) fastened to the plate. The bars are bent from a base surface of the chin rest plate and are connected with each other by a connecting block (14). The base surface is turned towards top of the stringed instrument. A U-shaped clamp (16) is arranged in a direction of a side of the connecting block turned away from the chin rest plate, such that the clamp surrounds and/or engages an end button for fastening hanging strings of a string holder at the side turned towards the chin rest plate.
