<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen gas sensor capable of detecting the trouble of the hydrogen gas sensor and having a simple structure. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The hydrogen gas sensor 100 includes a detection part 10 having a thermocouple material part 2, a pair of the electrodes 4a and 4b provided on the thermocouple material part 2 and a catalyst part 6 provided so as to be maldistributed toward one electrode 4a side of a pair of the electrodes on the thermocouple material part 2 and catalyzing the thermal reaction of hydrogen, a voltage measuring part 20 for measuring the voltage generated across a pair of the electrodes 4a and 4b, an insulating part 22 positioned on the side opposite to the catalyst part 6 so as to hold the thermocouple material part 2 and a heating part 30 positioned on the side opposite to the thermocouple material part 2 so as to hold the insulating part 22 and heating the thermocouple material part 2 through the insulating part 22 so that a temperature difference may be produced between the side provided with one electrode 4a of a pair of the electrodes and the side provided with the other electrode 4b in the thermocouple material part 2.
