<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object detector for a vehicle constituted so as to detect an object such as other vehicle with low reflectance of electromagnetic waves without preliminarily acquiring external world information. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The object detector for the vehicle is provided with: an electromagnetic wave transmitting/receiving means consisting of a radar and a radar output processing ECU which transmit the electromagnetic waves around the self-vehicle (vehicle) and receive a reflected signal obtained by being reflected on the object, determines a type of the object based on a received result of the electromagnetic wave transmitting/receiving means (S10, S12), and when it is judged that the object is a disk wheel Wn of the vehicle (other vehicle), estimates length in the front and back direction of the vehicle, more specifically, a vehicle shape estimated value mgn1_1, 2, 3; mgn1_1, 2', 3; mgn1_1", 2", 3" based on the determined disk wheel Wn (S14-S32).
