<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a button hole sewing machine which forms a button hole having an equal whipstitch width by always setting an optimal needle driving width correction value on the basis of an optionally set sewing speed including a speed changed during sewing, and continuing sewing operation even when a trouble occurs during sewing operation. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the button hole sewing machine, a storage section 6 stores the needle driving width correction value set according to the whipstitch width and a sewing speed, and a control section 16 obtains the needle driving width correction value for obtaining the desired whipstitch width of needle drop coordinate data from the storage section 6 on the basis of a sewing speed adjusted by a speed adjustment section 13, generates corrected control data by correcting driving control data such that a width obtained by adding the needle driving width correction value to a desired whipstitch width is set to be a needle driving width, and controls driving of a cloth feeding driving mechanism 21, a needle drive driving mechanism 20 and a needle bar up/down driving mechanism 19 on the basis of the correction control data.
