Provided is an image processing system which can uniquely identify a motion vector for each of pixels of an interpolation frame and can accurately identify a motion vector. Motion vector candidate selection means (301) successively selects a motion vector candidate for a predetermined interpolation frame. Differential image generation means (302), digital image generation means (303), and area image generation means (304) generate a differential image, a digital image, and an area image, respectively in accordance with the selected motion vector candidate. For each of pixels of the interpolation frame, motion vector decision means (305) identifies a motion vector candidate having the largest pixel value among the pixels in the area image corresponding to the pixels. Pixel value decision means (306) decides a value of each pixel in the interpolation frame by using the motion vector identified for each pixel, thereby generating an interpolation frame. |
