<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector equipped with an optical modulating device having, on the emitting surface side, a polarizing element having excellent light resistance and heat resistance and a long service life, and hardly causing a reflecting phenomenon of a panel. <P>SOLUTION: A second polarizing filter 43b on the emission side in a liquid crystal light valve 40b for a green color is a polarizing element formed of an inorganic material. The light resistance and heat resistance of the second polarizing filer 43b is thereby improved to lengthen a service life of the second polarizing filter 43b and in its turn the service life of the projector 100. Further, the second polarizing filer 43b is not only an absorption type polarizing plate for absorbing non-transmitted light but also arranged inclining with respect to a system optical axis OA. Consequently, even a slight reflection from the second polarizing filter 43b can be prevented from returning along the system optical axis OA, and the reflecting phenomenon of the liquid crystal panel 41b can be avoided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
