PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate Unix files used by legacy applications in a new system without alternating the legacy application and decrease the manhours for creating an application to improve the productivity by integrating, as a virtual table or a virtual column, the Unix files into a relational database of the new system. SOLUTION: Based on definition information, an information processing system assigns real data of a column in another table to a virtual column, opens a Unix file without alternating the file, assigns an entire or part of the file as an entity of an entire or part of a virtual table, a virtual column or cells of the virtual column, and also accesses the data in response to a relevant reading/writing request, and then, takes in the data so as to include it as a table or the part of the table into the database.
