<p>A clutch-only transmission fluid comprises an oil of lubricating viscosity formulated with additive components containing at least one metal detergent, at least one phosphorus-based wear preventative, a phosphorylated and boronated dispersant different than the at least one phosphorus-based wear preventative, a sulfurized extreme pressure agent; and b) a ratio between the content part per million (ppm) of the sulfur based on the total weight of the fluid composition and a content (ppm) of phosphorus based on the total weight of the fluid composition is 2-0.5 (ppm/ppm). Independent claims are included for following: (1) improving the friction performance of a clutch-only transmission involving adding to the clutch-only portion of the transmission the fluid composition; and operating the transmission; (2) clutch-only additive package comprising at least one metal detergent; at least one phosphorus-based wear preventative; a phosphorylated and boronated dispersant different than the at least one phosphorus-based wear preventative; a sulfurized extreme pressure agent; and a ratio between the content (ppm) of the sulfur based on the total weight of the additive package and a content (ppm) of phosphorus based on the total weight of the additive package is 2-0.5 (ppm/ppm); and (3) improving the friction durability for a dual clutch power transmission apparatus by using clutch-only transmission fluid in clutch-only fluid reservoir in communication with the dual clutch power transmission comprising a mixture of a lubricating oil; and a friction durability improving additive combination containing at least one metal detergent, at least one phosphorus-based wear preventative, phosphorylated and boronated dispersant different than the at least one phosphorus-based wear preventative, sulfurized extreme pressure agent, and where a ratio between the content (ppm) of the sulfur based on the total weight of the fluid composition and a content (ppm) of phosphorus based on the total weight of the fluid composition is 2-0.5 (ppm/ppm).</p> |
