<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display can achieve high efficiency of light use. <P>SOLUTION: Since the orientation of liquid crystals forming pixel parts 12, 14 of a light transmission and scattering type liquid crystal panel 7 is parallel with polarized axis of light 21 from a light source of polarized light from the first direction and a grating thinner than a wavelength of the light 21 is formed on a surface of a thin membrane-like electrode 1, the light 21 is reflected between rear surfaces of the thin membrane-like electrode 1 and the liquid crystal panel 7 and is reflected in an inclined part 1a of the thin membrane-like electrode 1, and the orientation of liquid crystals forming a pixel part 13 in a region where the inclined part 1a of the liquid crystal panel 7 is formed becomes transmissive for the light in the direction of normal line on a substrate surface, and the reflected light passes through the pixel part 13. By adjusting a position of the inclined part 1a, the display controls the liquid crystal panel 7 to allow radiation of radiating light 16 and set a position of the display pixel part 13 to a position of radiating light 16 in synchronization. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
