PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorbent provided with sufficient adsorption capability for practical use and a method for manufacturing the adsorbent by which shells, industrial wastes, can be recycled efficiently and colorized and moreover the cost can be lowered more than that of activated carbon, a conventional typical adsorbent. SOLUTION: A gas adsorbent is obtained by dropwise adding and mixing an aqueous solution of, for example, 2-imidazolidinone (ethylene urea) to and with shells, which are biological materials with a high Ca content, for example, a scallop shell powder and granulating the mixture.
