The device has multiple planar gas cells, which are present in a pile, in which two gas cells are arranged under parallel adjustment of their main extending levels next to each other. The multiple fuel cells (5) are arranged by planar plug-in cards (7), which are plugged-in for the designing of the pile into a plug-in frame and which is addable from the pile under maintenance individually and withdrawn from the pile.
