PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorber which can promote the improvement of ride comfort against an impulse-like input such as a ride over a bump. SOLUTION: A cylinder 1 is divided inside into two chambers, an upper and a lower, and includes a first piston 2 which can stroke in the axial direction of the cylinder 1. A reservoir chamber 9 which is communicated with the lower chamber 4 through a first communication path 10 is included. A valve body 12 is included which reduces the flow path resistance of the first communication path 10 when an input acceleration larger than a predetermined value towards a direction in which the length of the shock absorber is shortened is input.
