PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reproduction device capable of reproducing an animation from an interrupted position without performing a special operation, when a protecting cover is closed without exchanging an information recording medium. SOLUTION: This reproduction device which is equipped with the protecting cover 90 for closing a recoding medium storage storing the recording medium 60 includes: a reproduction means for reproducing recording information recorded on the recording medium 60; a detection means of the opening/closing operation of the cover for detecting the opening/closing state of the protecting cover 90; a detection means of the takeout of the recording medium for detecting whether the recording medium 60 has been taken out of the recording medium storage or not; and a control means for controlling the reproduction means so that the reproducing operation is interrupted and also the reproduction interrupted position is stored when the protecting cover 90 is brought into an open state by the detection means of opening/closing operation of the cover during the reproducing operation by the reproduction means and the reproducing operation is restarted from the reproduction interrupted position when the protecting cover 90 is brought into a closed state without the takeout of the recording medium 60 from the recording medium storage after the interruption of the reproducing operation.
