PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique improving storage property of a gas hydrate and suppressing decomposition of the gas hydrate during transportation, storing or the like. SOLUTION: One or more substances are selected, for example, from the following (a) and (b) as substances having gas hydrate decomposition suppressing properties in the method for producing the gas hydrate by a reaction of a raw material water and a gas hydrate forming substance under the gas hydrate generating condition. In the substances (a) and (b), (a) represents one or more ions selected from a group composed of a chlorine ion (Cl-), a fluorine ion (F-), a bromine ion (Br-), an iodine ion (I-), a sodium ion (Na+), a potassium ion (K+), a lithium ion (Li+), a calcium ion (Ca2+), a magnesium ion (Mg2+) and an ammonium ion (NH4+); and (b) represents one or more metals selected from a group composed of zinc, iron and manganese, or their ions.
