PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a door device of a machine tool, which contributes to shortening of the time necessary for closing a door, and accordingly to shortening of the non-operating time of the machine tool. SOLUTION: The door device 27 has: the door 28 which is movable between an open position for opening an opening section 26 formed in a splash guard 23 covering the periphery of the machine tool, and a closed position for closing the same; and an air cylinder 40 for generating driving force for moving the door 28 from the open position to the closed position. Herein a closure completion time T necessary for the door 28 to move from the open position to the closed position by the driving force of the air cylinder 40 and to be stationary and stabilized, is measured, and while a value of the driving force by the air cylinder 40 is successively varied, an optimum value of the driving force is determined based on the closure completion times measured according to the various values of the driving force.
