In Fig. 7, based on an existing probability distribution of a tracking subject at one previous frame, contour candidate curves of a tracking subject at the present frame are determined by using a particle filter. In order to match the candidate curves with a present frame contour image (90), the search processing of a contour line in the most vicinity of the candidate curves is divided for every knot (92) composing the candidate curve, so that a plurality of processing units carry out the divided processing in parallel. Image data of a searching area (94) of the processing subject knot (92) are copied from a contour image (90) stored at an image memory unit (24) to local memories (60a-60d) of each processing unit. |
