<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration in image quality by suppressing variation in driving load in an image carrier due to movement of a moving member which moves toward and away from a surface of the image carrier. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with: an intermediate transfer belt 6; a secondary transfer roller (the moving member) 10 which comes into contact with the intermediate transfer belt and moves in the direction going toward and away from the intermediate transfer belt; and a secondary transfer position detection sensor 15 for detecting the position of the secondary transfer roller 10 at respective prescribed sampling times which are determined beforehand during movement of the secondary transfer roller. A control means is provided for carrying out a feedback control of a motor 26 for driving an intermediate transfer belt when the secondary transfer roller is moved during a period when the imaging means is forming an image to the intermediate transfer belt, so that a detection result by the secondary transfer position detection sensor follows a target value corresponding to the respective sampling times which are determined beforehand. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
