The method involves determining an unbalance by evaluating a sensor signal of a yaw sensor (G) at a predetermined time interval. An optical, an acoustic and/or a haptic warning signal is generated and/or an unbalance notification is stored in an error memory of a vehicle (F), when a detected sensor signal of the yaw sensor swings with a predetermined swinging frequency and a predetermined maximum amplitude exceeds, where the swinging frequency and the maximum amplitude are predetermined depending on an actual wheel speed of the vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a device for detecting an unbalance at a wheel of a vehicle.
