<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which is improved in correction accuracy by reducing the effect of axial displacement on the reading of a test pattern. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus prints a test pattern on test paper P1. The test pattern has: condition correction patterns PD1 to PD3 for corresponding colors, which are used for correcting image forming conditions for printing; and a position specifying pattern PL having patterns PL1 and PL2 of different densities so as to specify a position along the rotation center axis B of a photoreceptor drum 1.
