<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new cap for a container which hardly receives an influence by the deformation even if large deformation is generated in a top wall arranged on the upper part of the opening of the container, and is excellent in sealing properties. <P>SOLUTION: The cap 1 includes the top wall 2 arranged on the upper side of the opening 20 of the container and a sidewall 3 hung from the top wall 2 and surrounding the outer peripheral face 21 of the opening. This sidewall 3 is composed of an upper part sidewall 3a and a lower part sidewall 3b, and an inclined site 3s falling down toward the container barrel side so as to surround the outer peripheral face 21 of the opening is provided at the inside corner of a step formed of the upper inner peripheral face f1 and a step face f3.
