A coating device is equipped with a gravure roll, the circumferal surface of which has indentations arranged to temporarily hold various materials being applied to sheet electrode core material, and the circumferal surface of which is made to contact the electrode core and transfer the material held in the aforementioned indentations to the aforementioned electrode core material to produce sheet electrode plates for secondary batteries. The coating device is also equipped with a doctor blade that contacts the gravure roll to scrape excess material from the circumferal surface of the gravure roll. A metal oxide layer is arranged on the surface of the gravure roll and the doctor blade is constituted from a resin material. |
