PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blade guard of a band saw machine, which facilitates exchange of a band saw blade, and brings about improved safety. SOLUTION: The blade guard is provided for the band saw machine having the endless band saw blade 21 that is wrap-connected to a driving wheel 13 and a driven wheel 17 rotatably arranged in a saw blade housing 7. In the blade guard, a safety cover 41 is arranged between the driving wheel 13 and the driven wheel 17, for covering a linear traveling portion of the band saw blade 21, and the safety cover 41 is formed of a fixed cover 45 provided for the saw blade housing 7 in one body therewith, and an openable cover 47 for freely opening/closing an area where the linear traveling portion of the band saw blade 21 is arranged. The fixed cover 45 has formed therein a cutting liquid flow guide portion 53 for guiding flow of a cutting liquid. Further the openable cover 47 is energized in a closing direction in normal times, and provided with an opening state lock device 59 for holding an opening state of the openable cover 47.
