PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing a wire-shaped metal particle which is selectively synthesized into a wire shape, and is not produced as an agglomerated material. SOLUTION: In the method for synthesizing a wire-shaped metal particle, a solution (A) includes a polyhydric alcohol compound and platinum chloride, a solution (B) includes a solvent and a metal compound, and the solution (A) and/or the solution (B) comprise a growth regulator for the metal particle. The ratio of the metal compound is≤8 pts.wt. to 100 pts.wt. of the polyhydric alcohol compound in the solution (B), and, by dropping the solution (B) to the solution (A), the wire-shaped metal particle is selectively obtained.
