PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control an amount of communication required for printing a message showing a recovering method of an error with the other apparatus. SOLUTION: In this communication system, a plurality of image forming apparatuses such as multi-function apparatuses are capable of making communications through LAN or the like. The multi-function apparatus forming this system prints a message showing a recovering method for error generated in the own apparatus on a printing sheet (S135). However, if an error such as jamming or the like is generated to disable the printing operation, the own apparatus cannot print such error message. Accordingly, when such print disabling error of this type is generated (Yes in S130), an error code is transmitted to the other corresponding type of apparatus (multi-function apparatus) (S165). On the other hand, upon reception of the error code, the multi-function apparatus reads manual data corresponding to the error code from NVRAM and processes this manual data to print the message showing the error recovering method corresponding to the error code on the printing sheet.
