PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for managing data by a computer capable of using a plurality of drives as the storage destination of a file in a way to improve the convenience of a user. SOLUTION: This data management method includes steps for: editing a target file in a first drive among a plurality of drives in accordance with an input from a user (S3); time-sequentially listing the content of the edition of the target file as unprocessed tasks to be processed on a task list in association with the designation of the target file (S5); and creating the copy of the target file in a second drive among the plurality of drives by sequentially processing the plurality of tasks listed on the task list independently of the flow of edition.
