N-((N-(4-Amidinobenzyl)-N-methylcarbamoyl)-alkyl)-arylsulfonamides (I) are new. Aryl sulfonamide derivatives of formula (I) and their acid addition salts are new. R1 = aromatic nucleus (optionally substituted by one or more of halo, 1-3C alkyl, 1-3C alkoxy, NO2, CN, CF3 or OCF3); R2 = H or 1-4C alkyl (optionally substituted by phenyl, CONH2 or one or more F); R3 = H or OH; R4 = H; or R3 + R4 = -CH=N- or 2-4C alkylene; R5 = H or 1-3C alkyl; R6 = H or halo; Y = optionally unsaturated 2-4C alkylene (optionally interrupted by O).
