PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of removing liquid recipient particles remaining on an intermediate transfer body. SOLUTION: A heater 60 blows hot air to ink-recipient particles 16 which remain on an intermediate transfer belt 12, without being transferred to a sheet material P and are conveyed toward a cleaning blade 28. Thus, moisture is removed from the ink-recipient particles 16. Further, the cleaning blade 28 removes the ink-recipient particles 16 whose moisture is removed from the intermediate transfer belt 12. The moisture is removed from the ink-recipient particles in the method, so that many ink-recipient particles 16 remaining on the intermediate transfer belt 12 can be removed therefrom.
