PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a helical steel wire capable of making a helical steel wire having a good corrosion fatigue resistance. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the helical steel wire 10 manufactured by wire-drawing a brass-plated steel wire and by helical-processing the brass-plated steel wire after the wire-drawing into a helical manner to draw a helical in its extending direction, the brass-plated steel wire 10 after the wire-drawing process but before the helicaling process undergoes a first treatment in which residual stress in the surface part is turned stressed by compression, and while keeping the residual stress in the surface part of the brass-plated steel wire 10b after the first treatment stressed by compression, a second treatment in which the difference of the residual stress in the surface part and that in the closely neighboring inside part is minimized, and the brass-plated steel wire 10c after the second treatment undergoes helicaling processing.
