PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fused ring compound exhibiting sufficient charge transport properties and excellent solubility in solvents. SOLUTION: The fused ring compound is represented by general formula (1) [wherein, R11and R12represent each a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an alkylthio group, an alkylamino group, an alkoxycarbonyl group in which the carbon number of the alkyl moiety is ≥3, an aryl group which may have a substituent, a monovalent heterocyclic group which may have a substituent, or a cyano group; at least one of R11and R12is not a hydrogen atom; R13and R14represent each a monovalent group; m and n are each an integer of 0-2; Y11, Y12, Y13and Y14are each a prescribed divalent group containing S, O, N, Se, Te or a double bond; the ring containing Y11or Y12is a 5-membered ring; and the ring containing Y13or Y14is a 5- or a 6-membered ring].
