The method involves generating an electromagnetic field in a transmission/reception cone (18) surrounding a surface of a mobile element e.g. rotor (2), by an antenna. The number of data bits in direction of the antenna is transmitted with a fixed bit rate by a data medium e.g. radio-frequency identification transponder (6), when the medium is included in the cone. A characteristic e.g. rotation direction, of the mobile element is determined by a microcontroller from the number of data bits received by the antenna. An independent claim is also included for a device comprising a data medium. |
