The present invention relates to an adapter for data transmission between a toothbrush and an external terminal, for example a data processing and/or display unit, with a data transmission device that has an interface for toothbrushes and an interface for terminals. The invention also relates to an electric toothbrush with a handle onto which an attachment brush can be mounted and/or to which a container of application substance can be connected, and with a data transmission device that has an interface for data transmission between the handle and the attachment brush and/or the container of application substance. The present invention further relates to a method for data transmission between a toothbrush and an external terminal. For the data communication between the external terminal and the toothbrush, it is proposed to use either the same interface provided for data transmission between the toothbrush handle and the attachment brush or container of application substance, or a wireless USB interface. ® KIPO & WIPO 2009
