PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device of an IPS (in-plane switching) mode also having properties of an FFS (fringe field switching) mode capable of performing bright display with a large aperture ratio. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 10A has a pair of substrates disposed oppositely to each other across a liquid crystal layer wherein a plurality of pixels which are independently driven are formed on one of the pair of substrates, and each pixel includes a first electrode 21 and a second electrode 22 formed parallel to each other on the same plane with a separation region 20 therebetween, and a third electrode 18 formed close to the substrate side than the first electrode 21 and the second electrode 22 via an insulating layer, wherein the third electrode 18 is formed as overlapping the first electrode 21 in a plan view, and electrically connected to the second electrode 22.
