<p>Provided is a decoding device which repeats a decoding process so as to decode information which has been subjected to an error correction encoding. The device includes a repetition quantity decision unit which calculates mutual information amounts of the encoded information and decides a repetition quantity of the decoding process according to the calculated mutual information amounts.</p>
