<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight with optical efficiency and uniformity of a screen improved, making a crystal liquid display light and thin, reducing cost and capable of improving screen quality. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight includes a substrate, a light guide plate placed at the substrate and cold-cathode tubes placed at a light guide plate part. The cold-cathode tubes are provided on all four side parts of the light guide plate, and they may be diagonally located in an "L" shape or located so as a high-voltage end of one cold-cathode tube is adjacent to a low-voltage end of another cold-cathode tube. The backlight further has optical efficiency and uniformity of a screen improved, makes a crystal liquid display thin and light, and furthermore, has cost reduced as well as screen quality improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
